The new F88
The F88 is an automatic large-size ( forming area: 1280 x 750 mm) thermoformer , whose special feature is its modular configuration. The F.88 can be supplied in four different versions:
a) Single –Station (punch-and-die mould), in-line with extruder for PS plates & trays: in this configuration the thermoforming machine is without oven and equipped with an integrated mini-calender.
b) Single –Station (punch-and-die mould), off-line for PS plates & trays: in this configuration the F88 is equipped with an oven ( only the top reflectors panel)
c) Single- Station (punch and die mould) in-line with extruder for PP plates, trays and lids: in this configuration the F88 is equipped with a regular calender and a regular oven ( top + bottom panels)
d) Multi-Station ( steel-rule cutting system) off-line for PET, PS, PLA and others biodegradable materials to produce trays, baskets, plates etc.: in this configuration the F88 includes a forming station, an optional hole-punching station and a trimming station by steel rule cutters.
According to OMV’s Patent, the cutting process features the partial trimming of the thermoformed products using the punch-and-die technique. Trimming is performed along the full outer contour of the formed product , except in few points, where the products are still connected to the web.
The formed products, hanging to the web through the said points, can thus be easily removed from the mould , exploiting the web motion.
Then the products are detached of the web , stacked and counted .
Finally the stacks are transversally switched onto a motorized unloading conveyor.
The advantages of the above forming and (partial) cutting system are paramount:
- Absolute cutting precision, thanks to the in-mould-trimming technique.
- Long duration of the cutting edges, thanks to the punch-and-die tool
- Easy removal of the products from the mould, as the products are connected to the web by four points
Perfect cooling /stabilization process for the products, since they can freely cool down , without receiving any torsional stress from the web, given the minimum size of the “support” points.

F33 the new swift thermoformer for great many uses
During the Plast fair 2009 in Milan OMV will show the new thermoforming machine F33 in production with a still rule cutting mould.
The F33 is a new medium-capacity thermoforming machine, capable to install multi-rows tools.
The F33 is a fully automatic, electro mechanically driven thermoformer with in-mould trim, which nullifies shrinkage effects on trim accuracy. As for the F 25/5, flexibility is the key word for this machine that has been designed to process al types of thermoplastic and coextruded materials, and that can also thermoform independent of type and shape of products. Typical features of the F33 are its outstanding forming speed and its easy operation.
- Effective and precise stacking robot for multi-rows moulds, directly derived from the F87 stacker
- Motorized plug assist
- Platen movement performed by a double toggle, driven by servomotor
- Performance/Price ratio VERY COMPETITIVE
- IML version available
- Standard delivery time: 5 months
- Compression rim-rolling for cups as option
- Control system based on Siemens S7-300 PLC
STEEL-RULE-CUTTING-MOULDS
Through a simple change of software, the new F33 Thermoformer can adopt, besides the classic punch-and-die moulds for PP, also specific moulds for PET containers ( tray, clam-shells, lunch-boxes etc ), using the “steel-rule cutting” technique. Such F33 utmost flexibility allows the thermoformer to comply with all possible market alterations, without any machine modification.

RIM ROLLING on F33

The unique OMV "on-board" RIM-ROLLING SYSTEM for cups, successfully applied to the E.76 and F.87 thermoformers, is now available also on the new F.33 model. Such as in the F.87 model , even in the smaller F.33 the rim-rolling device is installed on the machine's vacuum plate for cups extraction.
The rim rolling effect is obtained by a coining operation of the rim. The whole extraction/stacking group is designed providing steel frames for the stationary parts, and carbon-fiber structures for the parts in motion. This to allow high rigidity and the utmost dynamics ( extraction plate sliding speed up to 6 meters/sec.).
